About Me

Me, myself and I

My name is Magda and I love food… and this could be actually the only sentence in my 'about' section. I simply can't help it, food is always in my mind. I love to cook, go food shopping, invite friends for dinner, develop recipes, read cookbooks and restaurant reviews, I could spend hours admiring food photography or taking pictures myself.

I come from Poland, but I currently live Brussels where I work in the communications department of a European association. My international experience started when I went to Greece within the frames of the Erasmus Programme. Once I started discovering new cultures I couldn't stop it and after coming back to Poland I joined Erasmus Student Network - a student organisation which, in short, works for the interest of international students. Thanks to ESN my traveling feet brought me to Brussels.

The spoon and its recipes

Strangely enough, it's actually in Belgium that I discovered my passion for cooking. I've always been interested in food, but I suppose I didn't have a chance to realise that. Firstly, because my mother is a great cook and, as you can imagine, she's too possessive of her kitchen (I could be not more than a helper in her kingdom :p) and secondly working and studying at the same time didn't leave me too much time for developing my hobbies. I graduated, moved to Belgium and rented an apartment with an amazing (and my own!) kitchen which I'm completely in love with and spend there at least two hours a day.

Moreover, as the polyglot home for numerous nationalities, Brussels has huge variety of food stores, you can come across a Polish shop, a Moroccan shop and an Italian shop walking along one street. That makes it easy to find good, even the most original ingredients. You meet lot of international people coming from the furthest corners of the world. Just take a look at my closest friends - Italians, Greeks, Peruvians... pretty international company as you can see. They provide me with recipes and I cook.

Almost all the products that I use for my recipes are organic and seasonal. Since already some time I order a box of fresh organic food - fruits, vegetables and meat that come mostly from local farmers. Believe me, I could immediately feel the difference in taste between the same product from a regular supermarket and from the box. Moreover, it's only a bit more expensive than food in the shop. Although I would recommend it as (at least) worth trying, please feel free to try my recipes with non-organic products as well.

After some years of cooking, studying, experimenting, reading cookbooks, following the best chefs, but also good food blogs I collected a few recipes which I would like to share with you. I hope you will find some inspiration here for your own creations and you will have as much fun with cooking as I do. I will try to be as precise as possible when writing a recipe, but if you have any questions just send me an e-mail or comment on a post.
